Since the days of Paul, Athens has drawn people from all over the world. Strategically located as a gateway between the East and the West, this city of over 3 million residents offers commerce, education, and entertainment to its residents and visitors. For centuries, immigrants from Africa and other Mediterranean nations have been integrated into Greek society. But, since 2011, many who come are fleeing the terrors of war-torn nations. Refugees from many Middle Eastern countries now enter Greece, seeking safety and a new home in the West. ACM is there to welcome these people in crisis, offering a welcome smile, a warm meal, and loving friendship as they navigate the stress of learning to live in their new home. Even as relationships are developed, most of the refugees know they will move farther west as they receive asylum in the EU, but the God-centered love they have felt at Omonia will go with them, wherever they go.
